I apologize for the lack of posts lately. Kyle, Jenna and Bryce have been home in Dodgeville since traveling back from quality time with the Heckendorf crew in Mosinee last week. I know they all got in some snuggles with our favorite little guy during their days together.
My mom has been with them since Friday to help out as Bryce is not sleeping well on his own. One of them is always holding him, whether he’s awake or asleep. It’s good to just have an extra set of hands to help with feedings, and to give Mom or Dad a little break.
Tonight, Kyle, Jenna, Bryce and my mom fly to Pittsburgh, and tomorrow will be the first of three days of evaluations at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. They’ll be meeting with various doctors and Bryce will be having various tests, starting with eye and hearing exams tomorrow. On Thursday, they’ll be meeting with Dr. Maria Escolar in the morning, followed by a nerve test in the afternoon; Friday, he is scheduled for an MRI/spinal tap. They fly back Friday evening.
As you can imagine, Jenna and Kyle are anxious for the trip, both in terms of the travel and tests. Bryce is going to be put through a lot in the next few days, and the stress of that alone is hard on him, not to mention what the disease is doing to his little body. Please keep all of them in your thoughts and prayers, and keep your fingers crossed that their flight out of Chicago is on schedule tonight.
I will post regular updates as I hear from them this week. I’m not entirely sure what to expect — neither are they. Thank you again for all of your amazing support and love.
PS: A special thank you to cousin Brittany Rewey for making care packages to hand out to other passengers on tonight’s flight to Pittsburgh — they explain Bryce’s situation and ask for their understanding and patience if he does have a tough time.
